Questions about the Cogniva test

The test

How long does it take? Do I need an account?

About 7 minutes. You don't need an account. At the end we ask for your email so we can send you your result.

What kind of questions are they?

Visual pattern puzzles. Each one shows a pattern with a missing piece and several options to choose from. There are four pattern types: Progression, Rotation, Combination and Distribution. You don't need math, vocabulary or English beyond the instructions.

Who made these questions?

The questions are original puzzles written for this test, with answer keys checked by hand. None are copied from other tests.

Can I take it on my phone?

Yes. The test was designed for phones first and works on tablets and computers. A larger screen makes the figures easier to see.

Can I take the test with a screen reader?

This test is visual. If you use a screen reader, it can't measure your reasoning fairly. If you bought the report anyway, email us and we'll refund it in full.

Is the test for children?

No. The test and the reports are for adults 18 and over.

Can this test tell me if I have ADHD or memory problems?

No. It is a set of 20 visual puzzles for adults, and it can't tell you anything about attention, memory, or health. If you're concerned about any of those, a doctor is the right person to ask.

Can I use this for a job, school, or a high-IQ society?

No. This is an online estimate for personal use. Employers, schools, and high-IQ societies use supervised, standardized tests.

Your result

Are online IQ tests even accurate?

Ours gives an estimate, shown as a range, because 20 questions can't pin your IQ to one exact number. The methodology page shows how the range is calculated, how many people it's based on, and what it can't tell you.

Is this a real IQ test?

It is a 20-question reasoning test that estimates an IQ range from your answers and the difficulty of each puzzle. Clinical IQ tests are given in person by a psychologist, take much longer and are normed on a population sample. That's why we give a range, publish our method and say what the test can't do.

Why a range instead of an exact number?

Twenty questions can't support one exact number, so we show a range of about 8 to 10 points either way. The whole range is there so you can see how wide the estimate is.

What does 'above average' mean here?

Above average means your whole range sits above 100. Below average means your whole range sits below 100. Average means your range includes 100.

What if I score low?

The report is written for every range. It shows which pattern types cost you points and how to approach each one. It measures how you did on 20 puzzles today, and nothing more.

Won't an AI-written report be generic?

Your scores are calculated from your answers before the AI writes anything. The AI explains those numbers in plain English, and every report is checked against them before you see it.

Is the tutor just ChatGPT?

The tutor runs on an AI model and answers from your report: your answers, your pattern scores, and your mistakes. It won't guess a new IQ number or give medical advice.

Is Cogniva Institute a real institute?

Cogniva Institute is a brand of Luis Junior, an independent developer who builds online assessments. It has no university or clinical affiliation.

How do I get back to my report?

Open the link in your receipt email, or log in at cognivainstitute.org/login with the email you used. We send you a one-time code.

Price and refunds

Is this another $1 trial that turns into a subscription?

No. The full report costs $29.90, charged once, and there's nothing to cancel.

Will you charge me again later?

Only if you choose to buy something else, and every button shows its price before you tap it.

Why do I have to pay after doing the whole test?

You don't have to pay anything. The test and your band are free. The full report with your estimated IQ range is $29.90, and we show that price before question 1.

Why pay when there are free IQ tests?

There are, and ours is free to take too. Your band is free. The $29.90 report is for people who want their estimated IQ range and an explanation of every question they missed.

Is $29.90 just for a PDF?

The report is built from your 20 answers: your estimated IQ range, your score on each pattern type, why you missed each question you got wrong, and a 7-day practice plan. You read it in your browser and can download the PDF. See a sample before you buy.

What other offers will I see?

At checkout, an unticked box to add the 30-puzzle Practice Workbook for $9.90. After payment, one offer for the 28-Day Reasoning Coach at $37, and if you decline it, one offer for the 28-Day Reasoning Plan at $17. That's all.

Is the offer after payment a trap?

Your report is paid for and on its way. This is one optional add-on, shown once. If you skip it, nothing changes.

Is the payment secure?

Payments are processed by Stripe. Your full card number never touches our servers.

What will show on my card statement?

COGNIVA* INSTITUTE.ORG, for the exact amount you saw on the button.

What if I don't like the report?

Ask for a refund within 14 days, from your account or by email, and you get the full amount back. We won't ask why. Refunds usually reach your card in 5 to 10 business days.
